Case studies

Below are a small collection of case studies across residential, commercial and academic projects in a variety of locations across the UK. If you would like to enquire if we have experience working in a particular area, please feel free to contact us here.

Snellsmoor Grange, Berkeley

Brent, London

Brownfield

Greenfield

Derby City

Residential

Challenges

The site straddles three electoral wards and is of such a size that it contained a plethora of infrastructure work including a new school. At 800 new homes, this is a significant urban extension to Derby and residents, politicians and planners were all very cautious and many had concerns.

The job for the CCP

  • Three different newsletters tailored to different neighbouring areas of the large site to address specific concerns

  • An informative interactive website to explain the proposal and highlight the numerous benefits

  • A short film explaining the application and the benefits to the local community

  • Greenbelt and Local Plan promotions

  • Extensive political engagement

Outcome

After extensive political engagement across the spectrum, we built a strong working relationship with Derby City Council and successfully convinced the leadership of the schemes merits, earning it the planning permission that it deserved.

Brook Avenue, J-Group

Residential

Challenges

The area surrounding the site has been subject to vast change over recent years, and local residents are becoming hostile to development as a result of the perceived strain on local services. High on our list of priorities was to highlight the benefits of the type of scheme (co-living), and the improvements that it will bring the local area

The job for the CCP

  • Informative newsletters delivered to the local area

  • Extensive contact with local politicians and the political leadership of the borough.

  • A short film explaining the application and the benefits to the local community, including drone footage of the Wembley Regeneration Area

  • An interactive website which included the film

  • Extensive targeted social media advertising to draw in the silent majority of development supporters

Crawley Inn, Logic Land and Property

Crawley, WODC

Brownfield

Residential

Challenges

The CCP were appointed to assist with the application for the redevelopment of a pub that had burned down, to be turned into eight new homes. The area is notoriously difficult to get planning permissions in due to the unique and important character of the local area.

The job for the CCP

  • Informative newsletter to the local community

  • Extensive contact with local politicians and the political leadership of the district

  • Built a strong relationship with the local Parish Council

  • A short film explaining the benefits and helping locals to visualise the completed development

  • Interactive website (crawleyinn.com) to provide more information than was possible to include within a newsletter, including the short film

Blackburn, Gleeson Homes

Residential

Blackburn

Greenfield

Challenges

The LPA had expressed that, given the number of applications and new developments in their build phase in the local area, that this was not an appropriate site for development. We set about working with the schools, hosting a competition aimed at creating a truly community-first development. Part of the development (owing the Blackburn’s heritage as a market town) was a large farmers market, so this was what we based our competition upon.

The job for the CCP

  • Ran a competition for the logo of the farmers market

  • Ran a competition for the name of the farmers market and community orchard

  • Awarded two large prizes to each winning school, and vouchers to each winning child.

  • Secured positive press coverage in the local newspapers

  • Gained the support of parents and teachers

  • Opened the door to more dialogue with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

Hayes, Oxenwood Real Estate

Hillingdon

Commercial

Challenges

After the scheme to regenerate a disused retail park into a large employment space met resistance from officers, we set about on a campaign to produce community and political support, resulting in the scheme being approved unanimously at Planning Committee.

The job for the CCP

  • Extensive, borough-wide political engagement

  • Targeted social media campaign looking for those who want to see more local employment

  • Door-to-door canvassing in the local area

  • An interactive website explaining the proposals

  • A short film about the proposals

South Cambridgeshire, The Welding Institute

Cambridgeshire

Academic

Regeneration

Challenges

We were appointed to the project to consult with the local community and their representatives on the regeneration of the existing facility. There were concerns among local people around noise pollution, and an environmental improvement assessment request during the course of the consultation.

The job for the CCP

  • Extensive engagement with the community to ensure that fears over noise pollution were listened to and addressed

  • Engaged with South Cambridgeshire to ensure that elected members understood the proposals and associated benefits

  • A short film explaining the proposals

  • An interactive website

  • A newsletter to local residents

Wembley Central, Hycgan

Brent, London

Mixed-Use

Challenges

We were appointed to a major redevelopment of a hotel, which would include the construction of a block of new homes. Being in such an iconic location - along Olympic Way and in the shadow of the Wembley arches - consultation had be carried out diligently and thoughtfully.

The job for the CCP

  • Created a film about the development, including the use of a drone to film the surrounding area

  • High quality, interactive website

  • Newsletters to local residents and stakeholders

  • Extensive engagement with the senior levels of the London Borough of Brent
