Why are our f&*%$@g politicians swearing so much?
Those who live in glass houses really should not be throwing stones (or curses) and anyone who has ever spoken to me will know that I have a “trigger” called “BREXIT” that usually unleashes tirades of foul language due to its complete stupidity. So, I am in no real position to cast aspersions about the levels of fruitiness of the language of our politicians… but….
This week we had the Secretary of State for Education, Gillian Keegan, tell us (off camera) that “everyone else sat on their a**e” and no one had told her that she is “doing a f***ing good job”. Poor old Gillian. I think we could all sympathise with her predicament, feeling undervalued and being the only person who is doing any work while the rest of them are sunning themselves on the beach… of course, it emerged about a minute later that she had also been sunning herself in Spain from 25 – 31 August…
In August we had the MP for Ashford in Notts (and Vice Chair of the Tory Party) 30p-Lee Anderson say about migrants “If they don’t like barges then they should f*** off back to France.” Now 30p-Lee you have to admire, in that one line he dismissed human rights, was anti-migrant and xenophobic by putting two fingers up to the French… quite an achievement.
Humza Yousaf (the SNP Scottish First Minister in the same week said bigots who told folk they “don’t belong here” due to their race, gender or background should hear these words: “F**k you.” Now there I have a lot more sympathy. Racists really can just… well you know!
Of course, this week we also had a little reminder of Angela Rayner’s colourful descriptions about the Tories when she said, "We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute pile... of banana republic... Etonian... piece of scum". Not sweary but a little rude perhaps and she did apologise… eventually.
In May, Mahri Black a SNP MP got told off by the Deputy Speaker when she said “…we should not be surprised, given the fact they seem to have been pished half the time at parties in No10” … fairly tame I think and proven to be true… even if the language was a little off colour.
And we all remember when David Cameron was so ignorant of foul language that he said, “too many tweets makes a t*at” and didn’t even realise it was a rude word.
So, it is ever acceptable for our elected politicians to swear in public or on TV/Radio? I am going to lean towards a NO. There is such a thing as setting an example in public office and I am going to be a complete hypocrite and say I may swear but they may not. I’m not in public office!
Now stop reading this drivel and go do some ****** work, you lazy ****!
